Orchard Road

Gary and Meiling are back from Brisbane! Actually they were already back last Saturday morning, but I haven't mentioned it here so thought I'd just mention now lah... can see from the pictures in Meiling's blog that they had a fantastic time over there... have never seen such breathtaking scenery before, wish I can have a chance to go there in future.

Decided to meet my mother at Orchard tonight after work cos I wanted to bring my phone to the Nokia Centre at Wheelock's Place. After taking the queue number, we waited for a while before my turn came. The staff at the service counter checked my phone and said there wasn't really anything wrong even though some of the keypad functions cease to operate normally intermittently. He said I can leave my phone there for repair but said that all the contacts in my phone memory and all the pictures in my gallery would be lost after that. I hesitated for a moment and thought through for a while. In the end, I decided not to go ahead, cos it's not that I can't sms totally. In fact, today, the keypad functioned well at different times of the day. Maybe I'll just wait for an opportune time to come when I can get a newer and better model.

Finally saw the Christmas Light-up along Orchard Road earlier. Mmmm... but didn't really feel any excitement over it. The streets were so crowded everywhere as my mother and I walked from Wisma to Paragon.

I haven't been to Orchard Road to see the Christmas Light-up for donkey years. Main reason was that I never liked going to Orchard at all when I was a kid. The moment the word 'Orchard' is being mentioned, I would become restless. To me at that time, Orchard was a boring place. I would say I was a homely person who loved reading storybooks, who loved poring over 8 Days magazines to catch up with the latest episodes of drama serials, and who loved fellowshipping with the TV during my free time. Which is also the reason why I was never familiar with places in Orchard. So everytime I go there, I need my friends to lead me and direct me.

Now, it's slightly better because I can recognise how to get to places like Centrepoint, Tangs, Wheelock Place and Far East Plaza. And I think I am still a homely person but not so much as last time. Thanks to the wonderful people in N252 , W192 & those in the present E392, where we went out together as a group several times in June last year, combing practically every corner of Orchard until we can get sick of going there haha... but that was good training and practice for me at least he he... :)
