At Home
Today was a rather relaxing day spent entirely at home. I didn't step out of the house at all. Initially, my mother had thought of going shopping with me. But in the end, we didn't go, partly because she had to go and get some of the ingredients for the Ayam Buah Keluak in the afternoon. And also because I didn't feel like going out anyway. So I spent the day talking to some friends on MSN, having my quiet time, and reading up on SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) which is a statistical analysis software that I would be using at work.
SPSS is something I encountered briefly in the course of my study in NUS. One or two of my Social Work lecturers/tutors had taught us a bit on how to use it for entering and analysing data but we didn't really go deep into it. Also, as the research study that I did in year 4 was a qualitative one (which required only face-to-face interviews), I didn't have to make use of SPSS. But now I have to recall how to use it cos I'll be doing some data entry tomorrow and for the following week. Thank God I still have the readings on it, and Nan Yen just lent me a reading on it too. So earlier on, I was trying my best to make sense of it. It's still rather vague to me, so I'll need to do a hands-on tomorrow to explore my way through it. I pray that everything will work out fine.
