DOG FRIGHT

It's another cool and rainy night. I didn't switch on the air-con last night but tonight I guess I will since my parents also switched on theirs hee... but in the middle of the night, my father will usually wake up and switch off all the air-con to save electricity. At other times, he sleeps until the first ray of dawn appears before he will get up and turn the air-con off.

For some time now, my mother would be the first to leave the house in the morning for work, followed by me, then my father. It's a blessing to work in a place that is pretty near home, because that means being able to wake up later and being able to reach home faster. As I start the day at 9am, the best time for me to set off will be around 8.20am. The latest is 8.35am, and it's amazing how I can still reach on time when I still have to take a bus and train and walk to office. But I try my best to make 8.30am the latest... cos no good to be late.

Now that I recall, something that happened yesterday morning had given me a big fright. And something similar happened again this morning as I got out of the lift and made my way to the bus stop. For yesterday's case, as I was walking past the letter box, I almost froze in my tracks when I caught side of a huge Alsatian dog on my left! The owner was beside it stroking it and the dog was just seated there. I recognise the owner. He stays in my block and regularly brings his dog around for walks. He puts on the muzzle for his dog when they are moving around. But muzzle or no muzzle, just the size of the dog alone is enough to make me run. But I know I shouldn't run, based on my past experience of having been chased by a smaller-sized dog. What I did was just to walk away briskly and stay far away from it as much as possible.

Then this morning, I was on my way to the bus stop again. Somehow, along the way, I got a feeling that someone was behind me. I thought nothing of it and continued walking. After a while, I decided to turn back and take a look. Eeeeeek!!! It's another resident in my block walking his huge golden retriever!!!!I gasped and quickly moved to one side. Even a man who was walking in the direction towards the owner and the golden retriever got a shock when they crossed his path. Can't imagine how such huge dogs can be reared in HDB flats.

Cats are still the best, at least to me... I prefer cats to dogs anytime.

Okay, enough for the night... today I'll be at Suntec after work to have dinner with my cell group. Can't wait to be there!
