MY BASIC THEORY TEST

Good news! I passed my basic theory test at last! So happy! Even happier than when I cleared the trial test!!! :) Again, I sms-ed a lot of people after I got my test results, just to share with them the piece of news.

I sms-ed my brother, sis-in-law, my mother, Sis Kless, Meiling, Isabel, Nan Yen and Ivy. Wanted to sms Regina and Li Ching too, but thought I'd let them know today when I come to work.

I'm so glad the effort that I put into the weekly revision practices have not gone down the drain. I remember those evenings where I attended the practice sessions... Sometimes I would feel really tired and doze off in the midst of attempting the questions. And I would have my dinner only after I reach home. But I continued to attend every week, and with each attempt, the better I became in answering the questions.

So yesterday, the time finally came for me to take the test. I started to feel a bit nervous when I was waiting outside the venue. At 6.45pm, the staff opened up the venue and every one taking the test queued up to go inside like some science practical examination. Upon entering, I showed the staff my IC and was given a slip of paper that had my full name, NRIC number and a password to log into the touch-screen computerised terminal that I was allocated to. I was given Station 5, so I quickly found my place and sat down. After everyone had settled down and after the staff gave us a briefing, we began the test.

There were 50 MCQs in all and we were to complete them in 50 minutes. I prayed that God give me a clear mind and wisdom to go through the questions carefully and pick the most appropriate answer. Prayed also that I will not be anxious but be calm. The first few questions were okay. I selected my responses and went on to the next question one after the other. Then, as I continued doing, I grew more relaxed and felt more confident. Within 20 minutes, I had completed all the questions. Out of the 50 tested, almost 95% were identical to the ones I had come across in my revision. But still, not wanting to be complacent and take anything for granted, I went through the entire question index and checked for any careless mistakes. After ensuring that I had no further amendments to make, I tapped on 'End Test' and waited for my test result. Within seconds, the computer system generated the result and one large word 'PASSED' came out on the screen! Praise the Lord!

Happily, I walked out and went to print a copy of my test result slip. I'll be going down to the driving centre tomorrow and apply for a provisional driving licence so that I can start booking my practical lessons. Yay! :)
