DINING AT SAKAE

Last Friday afternoon, I went for food-tasting at Peninsula Excelsior Hotel with my organisation's annual D&D Committee members (I was in the comm, so got the privilege, haha). The food was ok on average, favoured the roasted crispy chicken and steamed live prawns in particular over the rest. One thing I must admit, the cream of mango sago was fabulous! Sweet, thick, creamy, heavenly! Pray that the quality of the food will maintain this way when December comes!

After a brief meeting with the committee, I met Ivy at City Hall MRT to go for dinner together. We didn’t plan to go anywhere specific but thought we’d like to go for Jap food. So, we ate at ‘Dining @ Sakae’ inside the City Link area.

Ivy is a very serving gal. At the beginning, she dished out some ginger slices, intending to put a bit into our green tea cos she says it’s healing for the throat. I was still having quite a persistent cough then and haven’t entirely recovered from throat infection. But she realised that I don’t take to ginger well, so she placed the ginger slices aside. From time to time after that, she will reach for my half-filled cup of green tea with the green tea leave bag and re-fill it with hot water. And she did it throughout the entire time during dinner! Cos she said I must drink more water. I’m so amazed by her, really. She also asked me what I liked to eat and when I pointed out an item on the menu, she will follow along and we will share those items. So I had 1 chawanmushi, she had 1 chawanmushi. I had 1 soft-shell crab handroll, she also had 1. Soft-shell crab, we shared half. Tempura Moriwase, we also shared half. Except for Tako sushi, I ate it cos she doesn’t take that.

After dinner, Ivy led me to Bugis Street where we did window shopping. In the end, she bought a dress and I bought a pink short-sleeved jacket. And because I was coughing quite a bit, she brought me to the supermarket inside Bugis Junction and recommended me Blackcurrant Strepsils which were meant to relieve throat pain.

I enjoyed the time spent with Ivy. I think she is a very teachable and open person. Willing to listen and full of love :) She's one in a million. :)
