Back In Action

I'm here again to blog after being 'out of action' over the last few days. No, I wasn't sick or anything... just had no idea what to write... didn't feel like writing anything either... could say that I was feeling blue... but starting to feel better.

I attended Fri service and Sunday 11.30am service last week. It was so, so good! This is my 3rd or 4th time hearing Pastor Mike preach. The first time I heard him was in 1999, when I attended his 2-night Deliverance Seminar at the old Hollywood Theatre (I still have the notes!). I wasn't in CHC yet then, but it was a friend from CHC who told me about the seminar and invited me. And it was awesome! Just like the services over this weekend. The power and the presence of God was so strong... the Holy Spirit delivered many people out of spiritual bondage and oppression...so many set free by the power of God!

I responded to altar call on Sunday. During that service, Pastor Mike drew our attention to the passage in Deuteronomy 2, about the wanderings of the Israelites in the desert... and what impacted me the most was from verses 1-3 --> Then we turned back and set out toward the desert along the route to the Red Sea, as the LORD had directed me. For a long time we made our way around the hill country of Seir. Then the LORD said to me, "You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north.

According to Pastor Mike, the hill country of Seir, or Mount Seir, represents compromise. It is a place of personal and corporate defeat. A mountain can mean a high place that God takes us to, but it also speaks of obstacles, of things that resist us, of things that prevent us from going on strong in our lives with God. At some point in time, we will find ourselves grappling with certain issues/problems that always keep coming back to us. It could be a sin problem, or a certain habit that needs to go, or something that we hold onto so tightly that we need to let go. And when we don't deal with these issues but sweep them under the carpet and allow them to grow and fester, they will hinder us from moving on with God.

The Israelites have been going round and round their mountain of defeat and compromise for so long... until God spoke and told them to turn and go in a new direction. Yes, that's what 'turn' means: to set our faces in a new direction. It means change. All of us must change if we want to grow. Because all growth requires a decision (a specific decision) to change. If we are holding onto some issue that we know is affecting us, we've got to change and let that issue go. We've got to let go of the old things so that new ones can come in to replace the old. There must be a willingness to let go, a willingness to separate ourselves unto the purposes of God. Otherwise, we will remain stuck and start stagnating.

So during the altar call, an SOT student prayed for the mind of Christ to come upon me. As she prayed, those things which kept my mind cluttered suddenly took off in an instant! And almost immediately, the peace of God came upon me and filled me. God is good! :)

Today, I went to MCYS for my 1-hour written test. It was a case study, where I needed to write down my views of the case, and suggest ways in which the problem can be solved. Felt as if I was answering an exam question. Saw 4 of my other classmates there for the test too... Thursday will be the interview session. Looking forward to it. :)
