'Grassy' Adventure
Last evening, I was on my way to YMCA for BS with Isabel. We met up for dinner at Long John's Silver in Plaza Singapura first. At about 730pm, we set off for YMCA. When we came to Dhoby Ghaut MRT exit (the one nearer to PS and facing Park Mall), we decided not to take the escalator down and exit from the station at the other end that is nearer to YMCA. Instead, we chose to walk in the direction of Park Mall because we thought of making a left turn and going on ahead to YMCA on a walkway that leads us straight to the traffic light crossing opposite YMCA. Not a very good choice.
As Isabel and I were about to make the left turn, we found that that particular walkway was closed for some construction works. We could have turned back to the MRT station exit and taken the escalator down but somehow, we didn't. We went on ahead. Since there was no walkway for us to travel on, Isabel and I had to so-called tread dangerously on the side kerb of the road where all the oncoming traffic were zooming past us in our direction. It was actually not very safe because the motor vehicles were about less than 1-2 metres away from us. What's more, I was wearing heels, so for every step that I took, I was cautiously making sure that my foot landed correctly on the kerb.
After clearing the side kerb, we had to cut through a grass patch. Sounds like some kind of obstacle course. The grass was thick and wet, and certain parts of the ground were soft and uneven. I had to hold on to Isabel's hand for support as we made our way through all that grass. Thank God I didn't drop into any hole or get my foot stuck at any point. Cos it was pretty dark and we couldn't really see our way very well, so we walked by faith hee... And then, when we finally thought we could get off the grass onto some concrete ground, a portion of cemented ground stared us in the face. We couldn't ascertain if the cement was already firm enough to take on any weight so we decided we wouldn't take any chances... So back to a few more seconds of wading through the grass patch.
Finally, at the end of it, we got onto a concrete pavement! And that is exactly the same spot where we would have landed earlier if we had exited from the other exit of Dhoby Ghaut station... To think we actually made one big round like going on a bunny's trail! But now we know... so next time we will not go that way again.
