ON COURSE TODAY

Today I was away from office the whole day because Khee Ling and I went for a training workshop from 8.30am-5pm at Wisma Indah, which is situated at Changi Road. The title of the workshop is "Women & Islam: Between Rights & Obligations", and topics covered include the Islamic Worldview, Muslim women and the family, as well as divorce laws & the Muslim women. It is organised by CEMW PPIS, which stands for Committee on the Empowerment of Muslim Women, Persatuan Permudi Islam Singapura. PPIS is also otherwise known as YMWA (Young Women Muslim Association). The training provided serves to benefit and equip social service providers with concepts/principles that lead to "empowering Muslim women on their rights and roles" in the course of work with Malay/Muslim families.
