SQUEAKY MICROPHONE AND A PERSIAN CAT

This morning, I boarded the MRT train as usual to go to work. The cabins were rather empty so I was expecting a relatively quiet trip down to my destination. However, that was not to be, for as soon as the train started to move off, there came a very loud, screeching sound from the microphone that was almost deafening to my ears!

Perhaps something was wrong with the automated announcements at that time so the driver was verbally announcing the name of the station at every single stop. It sounded alright, except that the screeching sound kept coming on at the end of the driver's sentence and it practically disrupted the peace and quiet in the train. Thank God mine was a short distance so I was more than happy to get off... had even contemplated getting out at the nearest stop and wait for the next train but I didn't because I would be late if I had done so.

That was for the morning. For the evening, when I was about to pack up and go home, Laura discovered a Persian cat outside the Centre at the back door! It was a grey, furry one but it appeared sick and thin. It kept on mewing and didn't want to leave. Auntie Grace had cat food with her and poured some into a bowl but it didn't seem to take to the food. In the end we left the bowl of food at one corner and it did go over to sniff and nibble at it. Wonder who the cat belongs to... cos it looks as if it had been reared by someone and yet abandoned. Poor kitty...
