THIS WEEK...
Just taking some time here to recap some of the things that took place at work this week.
For the first time, I was the emcee for a talk that was held at my Centre's premises on Wednesday night this week. Speakers from the PUB Board came down to share on 'Understanding Your Water Supply'. This talk comes under one of my Centre's primary programmes known as 'StrengthWorks!', which reaches out to lower-income families and aims to strengthen them towards financial and family stability.(doing some advertising/promotion here for the prog haha...)
Hazel, Fiona, Joanna and I make up the 'StrengthWorks!' team, and the talks are termed StrengthTalks. For Joanna and myself, we started assisting Hazel and Fiona under this prog only recently. I have never been an emcee before, so I must say that I was a bit nervous about how everything will go. Being emcee for that night meant welcoming the participants who came to attend the talk, introducing the speakers, rounding up the talk at the end, announcing the dates and topics for the next round of talks, encouraging the participants to register with us, and getting them to fill in the evaluation forms. I was praying that God help me to be bold, be confident, be audible, and to get the name and designation of the main speaker right. Thank God that everything went mostly well, and I think it was a good experience for me.
Next, I finally got my name card! 200 pieces of them came in today...
Last but not least, just to say that almost everyone in office, including my Director, calls me Sabie... And a number of them have nicks too: Audrey is Xiao Lu, Fiona is Fifi, Li Ching is Jingjing, and I sometimes call Hazel 'Zel Zel'. Everyone there is just very fun to work with :)
