ICHIBAN BOSHI

Last Friday evening, I ate out with Li Ching and Aunt Grace at Novena Square’s Ichiban Boshi. One other person was there too, and that was Lucy, our former Director. Li Ching and Aunt Grace meet her up once in a while so this time round, when Li Ching asked me, I decided to join in. Otherwise, I also won’t have much to do since my parents’ own cell group meeting was held that night.

Lucy ended work at 5.30pm and came to fetch us in her car. We knock off at 5 on Fridays so the timing was fine.

We spent a total of 4 hours there. The food was very good; those who are sashimi lovers or who can take raw food surely won’t have any problems dining there. As for me, sad to say, I take only cooked food, so I can’t enjoy the sashimi. Whenever I go to Japanese restaurants or outlets, I end up eating the teriyaki chicken or BBQ chicken set, which includes rice, tempura side dish, cold tofu, miso soup and fruits.

After consuming the main, we ordered dessert – the Tartufo chocolate ice-cream and Cherry Cha Cha ice-cream! One was rich in chocolate while the other had a very strong strawberry-cum-almond-like taste. And being the youngest among them, I was given the privilege to have the sweet dark brown chocolate located in the centre of the tartufo he he… Li Ching also let me eat one of her sushi (which to my ‘horror’ had wasabi hidden in it after I took a bite!)… Had to keep drinking plain water as I digested that sushi. Aunt Grace was also very nice, she shared one remaining sushi with me and gave me her chawanmushi cos she doesn’t like it. Lucy offered me a piece of her salmon and her orange slices too. I took the salmon but couldn’t take the oranges cos my set served oranges too.

Overall, a happy meal.
