THE SPIRIT OF GENEROSITY
Yesterday, Ivy and Whai Lin had to go for makeup cg at Expo after service. And since we can’t go to Hall 9 from now (sob sob), my cg went to food court to have lunch.
I waited for the makeup cg to end, then went down to Tampines with Ivy, Donny and Mark (one of our newer members who’s been here for 2 months). Despite having taken lunch, we decided to go for another round of lunch cos Ivy didn’t eat much before cg.
Before crossing over from Tampines MRT to Tampines Mall, we bought bubble tea first. Then, one girl was giving out leaflets for Uma Uma Men, a Jap outlet that had 50% discount for all its ramen in the month of September. Each of us took one leaflet and proceeded to Uma Uma Men in Century Square.
Upon reaching there, we were so glad to settle down in comfy, velvet seats. The place was quiet, not much people around, and the soundtrack for ‘Autumn In My Heart’ was being played. Ivy and I shared a bowl of Tori Karaage Ramen (fried crispy chicken ramen) whereas Mark and Donny shared one. We also ordered soft shell crab, fried tofu and fried, crispy squid. Ate to our hearts’ content haha…
And this was one blessing I didn’t expect: The entire meal was on Donny. He paid for the lunch and didn’t want us to pay him back our share. He said that since Pastor Kong had preached that morning about not being calculative, he would do likewise.
One thing I noticed, is that both Donny and Ivy are a very generous couple. The spirit of giving is just in them and it overflows to many of the other cell group members as well. They may not be earning thousands of dollars but with whatever they have, they gladly give and sow into the lives of people. I really feel very blessed to have them as my friends and they really are a great encouragement to me.
I thank God for couples like that in the church who are also my personal friends. The first was Gary and Meiling. Then Tristan and Estee. And now Donny and Ivy. Really treasure such good pals in life and I want to be there for them the same way they have been for me too. :)
