UP AND DOWN I GO

I learnt how to drive up and down a slope on Monday! And the best part was, I was allocated that same friendly and detailed instructor, Mr Lee again.

I didn't know there were so many steps involved. Off-hand, these are what I remember him telling me:

1) Step on the oil as you go up the slope
2) Stop behind the dotted yellow line
3) Pull up the handbrake

4) Turn on right signal
5) Release footbrake
6) Inch oil lightly and maintain
7) Check rear mirror, side mirror, blindspot
8) Release the handbrake
9) Accelerate
10) Control the brake as you go down the slope

Phew! I was so confused in the beginning. Trying it out was much harder than I thought. After a number of tries, Mr Lee directed me to go onto the public roads where I would come into contact with gentle slopes. Once again, it was very fun driving on the road. But because it was night time, I had to be more careful and look out for any pedestrians who may suddenly dash across the road. After about half an hour of driving on the road, we came back to the circuit for further attempts in driving up and down-slope. Thank God, I managed to do it! But still need to improve because I tend to let go of the oil after stepping on the oil.

Next lesson will be tomorrow, 4.40pm and 6.55pm. Will be going through assessment of my previous 11 subjects.
