Sore Throat
It's 17 minutes past National Day and here I am again. Happy Birthday Singapore! Gonna spend the entire day at home cos usually, my family doesn't have any programme in particular on National Day. We'll either eat lunch at the kopitiam downstairs or my father will cook. In the evening dinner will be home-cooked food too and we will just catch the NDP on television. Wonder if my brother and sister-in-law will be dropping by?
I am having a sore throat now actually. It started towards the end of the Festival of Praise on Sunday night. Most probably because I haven't been drinking enough water since last Friday. For Saturday's FOP, I was assigned for the first time to do external traffic around the North entrance. External traffic includes crowd control, guarding the queue to make sure nobody jumps queue, taking note of the names of people who leave the queue and directing people to certain designated areas for queuing. It's not easy at all. From the word 'external', it tells us that external traffic ushers are stationed outside the stadium, so no comfort of air-con compared to the ushers inside the stadium. Some are even stationed at Kallang MRT itself to direct people to the shuttle service. So on Saturday, I was stationed at the top of the staircase which people use for queuing when they want to line up towards the North entrance. The weather was very hot. The sun was shining directly on me as I was stationed there for more than 2 hours. Yuhao, Ivan and Estee's 2 friends were in the queue a distance away and they too had to bear with the heat like the rest of the other people who were queuing. Thank God that other ushers came by to distribute mineral water to us, so I drank 3 cups of it. Finally the doors opened, and people just got all excited and started running until the SISTIC security had to tell them to walk and not run. By then the sun was beginning to set but I was already having a slight headache. Must be that I stood too long in the sun. But thank God that I wasn't sun-burnt, just a little tanned.
At about 830pm, the external traffic ushers entered the stadium. But before we entered, we were treated to a beautiful display of fireworks from the National Day Parade preview. A beautiful sight indeed! :) Inside the stadium itself, we had no seats for ourselves, but there happened to be 3 empty seats at East arena and it was three rows from the front. Me and 2 other ushers were brought to those seats. Very near stage! Very good view! Can see and hear Pastor Colin Dye very clearly. Throughout the sermon, the headache got worse. It's a throbbing pain on one side of my head. But as Hillsong and Delirious led us in worship, I just tried my best not to concentrate on the pain but just worship. I prayed and asked God to remove the headache. And praise the Lord, God healed me! In the midst of worship, the pain was reduced by degrees and finally went away. And I really enjoyed the praise and worship. There was just a powerful anointing in the air!
Now I'm going to drink some water, take some throat drops and get some rest for the night.
