2ND DAY OF CHINESE NEW YEAR

'Chu Er' was kind of boring for me, because I saw more of my 'zhang bei' (elders) rather than my cousins. Also, my dad had to resume work from the 2nd day of CNY so he could not be with my mother and me when we went for New Year visitations. My sis-in-law didn't join us as well as she had things to do at home, so there was only my brother driving me and my mother around as we went from house to house.
For the 2nd day, we went to 4 places, all from my mother's side. We started off with my mum's eldest brother's place for lunch. Each year, this uncle of mine will cater buffet at his house, so it was a treat for all of us as we enjoyed the curries, mee goreng and prata. In previous years, there would be mee siam and satay where 1-2 people will specially be stationed at the car porch to grill the satay for us. When I was even younger, my uncle would get a Chinese lion dance troupe to perform every year at his house. I don't know if he still does that now because we haven't seen any lion dance performances at his house for quite some time already. I used to be very fearful of the Chinese lion head because it appears to be rather scary to me, and I would run away from it as soon as I spot it or would run to hide behind my mother's back. But now I'm not afraid of it anymore lah... :)
Next, we went to an aunt's place at Pasir Ris! Sat around with my uncles and aunts while they talked, drank tea and ate the New Year goodies. After that, we went to Hougang (another aunt's place) where my brother and I sat at the living room area in front of the TV, munching on goodies here and there. Then, in less than an hour, we were off to Seletar (another uncle's place) where his maid had prepared dinner for all of us. Finally, our last destination was HOME! Some of my relatives came over, sat down, talked, watched TV, drank tea, ate goodies again... and my mother cooked Myojo prawn-flavoured instant noodles for them and added real prawns to it hee... this instant noodle flavour differs from the usual Myojo Shrimp because the soup base tastes 80-90% like the soup from the actual prawn noodles sold outside. Can try it and give it a rating as to how it tastes :)
So all that sums up my 'Chu Er'.
