A Different Spirit... A Steadfast Spirit

I've just had my quiet time with God, and the time spent with Him is so, so good.

As usual, I closed my room door and began to worship God using praise and worship CD. In the beginning, things didn't seem to be moving. I was feeling a bit lethargic in my spirit. There were also moments when I became silent and stopped singing because I felt I wasn't experiencing God's Presence. I was distracted. And some thoughts of doubt entered in and out of my mind. But I didn't want to give up. I didn't want to leave things the way they are just like that. I believe that I can experience God Himself and God definitely wants His children to encounter Him. So I lifted up my hands again and continued pressing on, releasing my prayer language to God, telling Him how I felt, expressing my desire to be in His Presence, asking God to bring me back to focus.

And out of my prayers to God, the words "a new spirit" or "a renewed spirit" came up on my lips. I believe they came as a result of inspiration by the Holy Spirit. They reminded me of Numbers 14:24 where God says "But because My servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows Me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it". They also reminded me of Ezekiel 36:26 "I (God) will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you...". And after this, I continued to worship God until finally, a very strong and tangible Presence of the Holy Spirit came into my room and came upon me. I lingered on for a while more and felt prompting to find the verse "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me". I flipped my Bible and found it in Psalm 51:10.

I was excited and happy... and I still am... because God spoke... because I heard from Him. And I'm glad I pressed on. To me, a quiet time is never complete without hearing God speak personally into our lives. Hearing God's voice & receiving a Word from Him for the day really makes the rest of the day worth living! :)

And now it's time for lunch! Grilled chicken prepared by my Daddy... with er... instant U-dong :)
