YESTERDAY'S DRIVING LESSON

I was very happy yesterday because God blessed me with a very good and patient senior driving instructor, Lee Yip Seng! He was very detailed in his teaching and instructions as he taught me how to stop by the kerb, check blind spots and make right turns. He talked to me to understand my line of work, kept telling me to relax, advised me on the appropriate footwear for driving lessons and suggested that I book day lessons too.

At first, I wasn’t very smooth in doing right turning as I drove round and round the circuit. My instructor then taught me step-by-step how to turn the steering wheel, to ‘flick’ my eyeball and turn according to the curvature of the road. He also taught me to tap the brake pedal lightly and slow down before I approach the corner of the turn, and to step on the accelerator lightly once the vehicle finishes the turn.

For this lesson, I improved in my ability to keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane. It wasn’t like the previous 2 lessons where I struggled to make sure I wasn’t going off course. Though there were some points during this 3rd lesson that I still cut into the next lane while driving straight or turning, it was rather minimal and I developed a better sense of judgment. The instructor also observed that I managed to keep the vehicle straight when I turn left to stop by the kerb. :) At the end of the lesson, he re-capped what he had taught me and told me to keep it up. Thank God :) I might consider booking him as my fixed instructor in future... will see how it goes. :)
